Inspired by both KT candidates

Dear Editors,

I am a young Tibetan, and I’ve only recently been introduced to this website. Thank you for all the great work that the TPR team has been doing in sharing such critical information and facilitating constructive discussions in an open, unbiased manner. I am truly proud of both Kalon Tripa candidates, and inspired by their dedication and determination toward successfully leading our community in the face of various significant challenges. Regardless of the outcome of this election, I truly believe that both candidates have a lot to offer to our community even as members of Kashag. While differences in ideas, opinion, and approaches are normal and will persist, I believe that a sincere collaborative effort of the two can reap many great benefits for our community- after all, they share the same ultimate goals.

In this regard, I suggest that we expand our discussion to also explore their possible areas of commonality/co-operation, and encourage the spirit of collaboration. Specifically, I think it would be important and helpful to continually elicit and highlight candidates’ response to each other’s positions and ideas- and thereby evaluate means by which they succeed or strive to arrive at a consensus. As exciting as this election is for many of us, I sincerely hope that both of them will be able to serve in the government regardless of the election’s outcome.

Keep up the good work, TPR team, and best wishes to all of you for the new year 2011!
